Whew! Sorry for the lack of updates recently. As I mentioned in my last post, the Reservoir Dogwoods tour has been crazy successful and we've been swamped! Lots going on. Honestly, updating this site, the indianapoetrytour.com site, facebook, myspace, twitter, flickr, etc. etc. just takes up too much damn time.

The updated list of tour dates are on the Schedule page here on this site. And you can check out www.IndianaPoetryTour.com for the latest and greatest tour info.

And! Yes, I promised a big announcement a few weeks ago and it's ready to pop! Give me just a few more hours before I unleash it. A few more precious hours... stay tuned...

Well, 2009 is in full-swing and I have kept radio silence on the site thus far. However, this does not mean that MAJOR projects are not underway. In fact, I'll tell you about one of the major projects I've been working on: RESERVOIR DOGWOODS.

What is this you say? Here is the brief press release:

Poets Traveling Hoosier State for National Poetry Month
Reservoir Dogwoods Indiana Poetry Tour

Indianapolis, Indiana — The Reservoir Dogwoods, four of Indiana’s finest spoken word artists, are traveling through Central and Southern Indiana this spring. Jason L. Ammerman (Indianapolis), Matthew Jackson (Columbus), and Joseph Kerschbaum and Tony Brewer (Bloomington) have joined forces to showcase their brand of homegrown performance poetry across the Hoosier state.

“The four hardest-working poets in Indiana today are bringing their unique styles together for a breathtaking show,” says Jason L. Ammerman, member of the Reservoir Dogwoods. Performances are scheduled in cities such as Bloomington, Columbus, Evansville, Greenwood, Shelbyville, and Indianapolis.

These poets draw on such wide-ranging influences as the Beats, Saul Williams, Scott Russell Sanders, Charles Bukowski, Etheridge Knight, Miles Davis, and the list goes on and on and on. Each poet is established in his own community and brings a solid sound to create a symphony of images and styles for the mind.

This is the poetry/spoken word event of the year. You don’t want to miss it!

Oh, 2008... where have you gone? To where have you disappeared? I know that I lived each day through your duration but it's all gone by so fast. I can so vividly remember celebrating News Years with friends at Farm, and now you are ready to close your doors and send us all home into the next year.

However, it's not over yet! I try to close our each year with one great last reading. In 2006, my last reading was in Las Vegas (awesome!). In 2007, my last reading was in Lincoln, NE (chilly, but awesome!). And I will be closing out 2008 at the Indiana Writers Center in Indianapolis! I will be featured reader for the December edition of Evening with the Muse. There is also an open mic as well.

Oh, 2009... what do you hold in store? I can already tell you folks that there are big plans coming together. Let's just say that my next book will see the light of day and a large-scale tour may very well happen. And I'll be getting married! So, 2009... you have your work cut out for you.

Greetings. This is just a quick note for all my Muncie Folks. Tomorrow night (10/4) I'll be reading at Gallery 308 as part of the Arts Kaleidoscope. There are going to be so many great poets that I can't even begin to count them all. I'm closing out the show so I'll be the last reader for the event. I'm still not certain if this is a good or bad thing. We'll see. Oh and there is a reading at Vera Mae's on Main St. after the Arts Kaleidoscope. If you live in Muncie, you'll know what I'm talking about. If you don't live in Muncie, then you don't know what I'm talking about. And you're missing out.

Oh man. Poison oak is the worst. And my back yard is covered in it. Henceforth, I'm cover in it. Third time this summer. I really gotta learn how to identify this shit and STAY AWAY.

Anyway. I am here to report a great great great gig next Friday (7/25). The reading will be in Indianapolis at the Bean Cup (check the schedule page for the details). It's a feature reading with myself and Jason Ammerman. The event is celebrating the release of his new book Microphone or Bust! Jason a great poet, and a great friend. This reading is going to be great. I'm still on the promo trail for Our Voices Sound Like Silence. It's just the two of us so it should be a lot of fun. Don't miss it. I'm serious. Don't miss it.

Greetings one and all. I hope summer has been fantastic for everyone thus far. Mine has been busy busy busy busy busy busy busy busy. I'm hoping things will calm down in the next week or so. Let's face it: they won't. But that's fine. The readings keep on rolling. I'll be featuring at the Runcible Spoon Reading Series tomorrow night. It will be a grand time. And I plan on busting out all new material. Good, bad, whatever. As long as it's work I haven't read before. This could be great or horrible. You should be there either way to witness it all go down - either in flames or a blaze of glory. And reading gigs are rolling in for the fall so those will be posted soon. So soon. Go outside and play now. Goodbye.

The case studies are in, and 1 out of 1 infants like to dance to our new album. We're batting 1,000! How many times have you seen a little person dancing to spoken word? Not very, I'm sure.

Oh, I've decided that the new album is not spoken word. It is SPOKEN ROCK. You heard it hear first folks. Literally.

More readings in a few weeks. And then more after that. And more. more.
